sageandsea1) What single incident made the biggest change to your life?
The Zinger being born. Life was at a fairly even keel up until two months ago, now it's turned pretty upside down. The other life-changing experiences are all less tangible.
2) Have you ever had to face discrimination and how did you deal with it?
I've been fired from jobs and denied housing because I'm gay, and I'm pretty sure it's why I didn't get the club, but it's not illegal (and I'm not rich) so there's not much I could do about it but move on. We try really hard with the kids to instill a "don't blame everything on being gay" policy - look at your actions first. Did you show up to an interview in jeans hanging off your ass, without showering? Then don't automatically assume you weren't hired because you're gay.
3) What is your favourite recipe?
Mmmm, food-porn! I don't have one favorite, it depends on what I'm in the mood for. Right now, because it's hot (nearly 80 already, at 10.30 am), I just want cool foods, so I'll give you a pasta salad recipe that I love:
enough cooked pasta to feed however many people you have; seashells are my favorite.
chopped salami
chopped mozzarella
chopped fresh tomatoes
about a cup of olive salad
maybe some chopped arugula or other lettuce for texture and crunch
toss, refrigerate, and enjoy with crusty bread
4) You have to evacuate the area, possibly for a while, but you are allowed one minute to grab one personal item, that will fit in a pocket. What would you take? (assume medical/clothing/food etc items will be provided)
CJ, reading over my shoulder, says "a favorite toy, or lube! No, my Leatherman!". If it's just a momentary evacuation, then probably my PDA so that I have everyone's phone number. If I never get to come back? Pictures.
5) What talent/skill do you really wish you had?
This community (TH/LJ) is so full of writers...I'd love to be able to do that, or to play any instrument. My talents all seem to lie in the care-taking realm, instead of the creative realm.
