Colonial House!

Oh, man, I want to do this so much!

"Right now, preparations are being made for filming in a beautiful but remote corner on the Eastern Seaboard. There, our volunteers will be fully immersed in early colonial life. Starting in late spring, through summer and early fall of 2003, we'll see how they fare with planting and harvesting corn, catching fish and living as a young community."

And you would be so much better than anyone in one particular Frontier House family!!! Is this one also being made by the same British company that made Frontier House, 1900 House, etc.? If so, it will be nice and tasteful.

There was one particular family in Frontier House that I thought definitely needed to die. ;)

I kind of found them funny, what with the still and all....until they found the newer mattress. Then I thought they were cheaters and should be smacked. I noticed a lot of whiny folks on that show!

Me too - except for that pesky mortgage thing. I don't have enough money in the bank to cover 5 months of not working.

It said something about a stipend to compensate participants for five months of not working...

Well, if you get in I certainly hope you wouldn't be prancing around naked (by the old definition, which means not fully clothed; "nake"="peel") like a brazen hussy who'd be tossed out of any self-respecting brothel, like the Frontier House females! *g*

If reports of the other shows are true, they choose people who are very romantic i.e. clueless about what such an experience actually entails. Apparently whiny makes good TV, though I'd sure rather see people who were competent and good sports!

Go for it! It sounds like fun!

Just as in Real Life (tm), I wouldn't be "nekkid" when there were visitors (cameras). I thought those Frontier women were a little underdressed for company!

They sure were! And I got really sick of the rich family; whole bunch o' whingers. Still, it was a fun show. I've enjoyed all of them. If you do apply, good luck! And write about the process, OK? :)

Whiny might make good TV but there were a few people on Frontier House that I wanted to bitchslap! A few were good sports tho, which made it worth watching. I hear (on TH, maybe?) that there is/was one set in a Bronze Age fort that played in Britain. I haven't found any info on it but that's the one I would love to see.

Yeah, the bronze age was was fun. It was on a while ago, but I'm sure they'll rerun it! We were disappointed that they didn't show more of the ironworking, though they did show the process in which ore was refined into iron. Cool! They focused a lot on some interpersonal conflicts aggravated by a great deal of class-consciousness. Most of the people seemed to have a pretty good time, though; they were probably the mellowest set of participants in any of the shows.

I'm blanking on the name, unfortunately...
