Dear Stupid Boss,

If you tell me "Hilton LAX", I will go to Hilton's website and search for "Hilton LAX", and book at the room which comes up closest. If that's not the right Hilton (which I won't know, because I don't fly to LA every damned week and if I did I'd be staying at a Travelodge because I don't make $90+K/year), you need to READ THE EMAIL I SEND YOU WITH YOUR CONFIRMATION INFO and let me know it's not the right damned hotel. Not call me after you get there to tell me it's the wrong hotel.

My first anonymous weirdo comment. On one hand, I believe in everyone's right to speech, no matter how mentally deficient that person appears to be. On the other hand, it's my journal. Do I want some weirdo I don't know posting in it?

I'd leave it and see if the issue recurs.

If nothing else, it has contributed to making your say more surreal. (Always a bonus).

Oh, and, BTW - you're absolutely right. The time to complain about travel arrangements is when you are handed a clear itinerary and explicitly asked "is this what you want?"

Absolutely a bonus - I really feel awed and strange when I find people I don't know are reading my journal, so an anonymous weirdo is a huge plus.

And thanks for the backup - I'd've thought, but Boss doesn't agree, apparently.

That's becauses bosses are insane. I had a boss once who became furious at me for calling her boss to let the office know I was out sick. The conversation went like this:

Boss: Why didn't you call me? You report to me!
Me: You remember that slip of paper I showed you with the phone number on it, that I explicity asked you if it was the correct number to reach you with from an outside line?
Boss: Yes
Me: And do you remember looking at it and saying, "Yeah, that's my number"
Boss: Yes
Me: Well, it wasn't. The last digit turned out to be wrong. So I called the operator and your extension wasn't listed, so she gave me your boss.
Boss: Well, you should have made sure you had the right number to call me before you left.

(Funny, I thought that's what I did...)

I did not stay at that job long.

Wow, she sounds like an ass. I've been here two years come April, with no review, no raise, no nothing. I'm looking for something else, but Oregon's economy is about the worst in the nation - and with Measure 28 losing today, more layoffs will be occuring, therefore even MORE applicants for each job. Right now, every job I would apply for has at least 100 other applicants; it's kind of hard to get your foot in the door that way.

If I had screwed up on a convention hotel I could see his being annoyed. No, this was simply a hotel 1.7 miles on one side of LAX instead of 1.7 miles on the OTHER side of LAX, both Hiltons.

Ah, okay. So, then, your boss doesn't have much of a right to get all huffy -- any and all discounts would still be applicable, any frequent flier miles through partnerships would be maintained -- sheesh, some people just need to learn to enjoy the ride.
