* We managed to hold off on getting really sick until last night, but now we both have nasty nasty colds.

* Why in the world do people take their CHILDREN, small children, to Bourbon Street on a Friday night? Buskers promising live sex acts, people dropping trou and blouse for beads, drinking until they puke - yes, this is something I think my 5, 6, 7 year old should enjoy! Like Disneyland, honey, only for much older people.

* It's really dark in Portland, what with the grey and all.

Off to shop for dayquil and food. Not used to a routine that doesn't include Cafe du Monde yet.

Hot, chewy, powdered-sugar-coated goodness, with some strong sweet coffee and milk to wash it down with. There's nothing in the world like it here.

I've only had the pleasure of the addiction for two days, having been on a nearly-abortive spring break trip, but it's the first place I'll go back to on my next trip... whenever that happens to be.
