That's interesting. 'bout half an hour ago I started seeing...um, light snakes are I guess the best way to describe them. They started out pretty small, a little triangle in my vision field, but they're getting bigger. Swirly lights, black, blue and tan. They pretty much fill the peripheral vision in my left eye just at the moment.

I should probably be more worried about this than I am. I'm just intrigued by the lights themselves, though!

Edit: I figured it was probably that (a visual effect migraine); a cow-orker had one the other day and I remembered you can get migraines w/o pain (probably from one of you smart people). I didn't get dizzy or anything, got outside away from the flourescent lights and got some food and they're pretty much gone. My head doesn't hurt (I have had pain migraines) but feels...tight, I guess.

Fun, a new sort of migraine. This isn't so bad since it's not really painful, although too much could make me sick to my stomach.

For me the pain usually hits later. I actually like visual effects like that - gives me enough time to get meds into me 'fore the rest of the migrane hits.

My mother had one once where she started seeing a rainbow in the center of her vision. It slowly expanded and she was so entranced with the beauty of it that by the time she thought to go get medicine, she was almost blind to all but rainbows. She had to figure out which bottle was the migrane meds by the smell and feel of the pills!

I can see how that could happen! I have migraine meds somewhere 'round here, I will take some before the hurts. Thank you!

Think of it as being a virtual Graetful Dead roadie. All the hallucinations without spending a dime.

But seriously: I hope they don't return. I think Bldg. 3 and its predatory ventilation system will be the death of us all.

Well, it's got 170 days to do us in. Maybe it's NOT the ventilation, but the stress? Nah!

My first thought was also migraine, although this can sometimes be a sign of a small stroke. If the lights are active, I'd say it's a migraine. I experience the same on occasion.

It can be fascinating. My ocular migraine generally begins with a hole in my vision similar to the flash effect when a photo is taken. The light in the hole is like TV snow. It always has the same pattern. If I hold up my hand, the bottom right half will be missing. Or, say, if I'm looking at a car in front of me on the road, the lower trun and tires are just gone. Gradually the light will become more squiggly and get bigger until I really can't see. I've found caffeine and/or a snack are helpful, or just taking a short nap. Glad you didn't have splodey head! I hate it when my head splodes.

No head-splodey; I've had pain migraines before. Just a slight tightness in the back/right, and the lights are gone now. They were definitely interesting!

I get ocular migraines much more often than "standard" ones. Sometimes it's just glare & halos, sometimes it's squiggles or orbs.

Cow-orker? What is orking, and does it hurt the cow? :)

I've never had a painful migraine, but have gotten the visual ones a few times. For me it's a dark spot in the center of my field of vision, gradually expanding, with greenish/purple vibrations around it. Once I got over being terrified I was going blind, it became more a nuisance than anything. Haven't had one in over a year, so I guess I'm lucky. It was thanks to some people online, though, that I found out what it was!
