Nov. 26th, 2004 10:29 amI am thankful for a lot of things, but being at work today is not one of them. This will be a really short day.
Wednesday night and yesterday CJ & I got everything moved downstairs into the new office. It needs a rug, but otherwise it's really nice! Floor in deep red, cream walls, comfy furniture and enough room for 5 people to sit comfortably when we want to play on the computer. Now, our electronic entertainment (tv/computer) have their own rooms downstairs, and the main floor is purely for quiet conversation/music/games/food. And, our master suite - since the bedrooms are so small, we have one for the bed and one for dressers/closets. The dressing room is very nice; it's wonderful to have so much room finally. And we went from one fugly "guest room" and a cramped office to comfy office and dressing room for under $500 - the whole project cost $17.95 for a gallon of floor enamel and $2.29 for a concrete drill bit.
And the stuff we're getting rid of!! Things are going on eBay, or going to FreeCycle, or sent out to
holiday_wishes, or just getting tossed. We'll never be completely stuff-free, but it's better. All the eBay stuff is moving inside, so we don't have to go to the garage and freeze to make lots/take pictures ~ and my dozens of boxes of books can go on Half.com now. Whew.
We barbecued steak last night, and had it with baked potatoes (white and yams) and fresh broccoli. Wonderful! The half-cow we split with Skye and Kelly was absolutely worth it; I was right, the flavor of range-fed beef is much different than what you get in stores. Just like when I was a kid, when we always had beef from my grandparents' ranch.
We are kitten-sitting an 8-month-old girl named Tommy (very sad circumstances) until Saturday or Sunday; it may end up more long-term but that will depend on her mom. She's very cute, and is acclimating well - and so are our cats, even Lydia.
Oh, and I may have a HUGE Yule present for CJ, but I'll find out Monday or Tuesday - a 1956 Calcour travel trailer, about 10'. I can't find ANYTHING on this make/model of trailer!
I suppose I should go find some actual work to do...
