Fahrenheit 451, Ray Bradbury, 190 pgs.

Another classic I hadn't read - lots of other Bradbury, Dandelion Wine is a old favorite, but not this. It's the 2004 book for Everybody Reads.

Creepy prescience on RB's part. The issues of censorship (via the people AND the government), television and sensory overload, and post-9/11 "why does everyone hate us" are all here. Definitely timely.

In other news, the Zinger has a fever of about 103, I dosed him with some tylenol but he isn't sleeping well. Poor fussy monster, I think it's his teeth. He is standing on his own for a few seconds at a time, he'll be walking before the end of the month I'll bet. And is trying hard to say "kittie."

No job, blah blah blah, resumes to every agency in town, blah blah blah, got another UE check today which surprised me - I thought I was maxed again. I think I'm going to go sell flowers for three days on the street corner, that's a couple hundred dollars for the weekend.

I knew Bradbury was onto something the day I stumbled across the abridged version of Classics Illustrated (the comic-book adaptations of classic novels?) This one could do something like Gullivers Travels in 30 pages, max. Small pages.

Note, also, that we now have flat TVs that sit on the wall like a picture. Next step: full-size walls.

I didn't think about the flat-screen/wall-sized idiot boxes, but you're right. Creepier.

That's one of my favorite books! :)

Poor baby...what did the doctor say?

Didn't call the Doctor, and now the fever is gone and a cold has come on, so that was the problem. He's doing good!

Argh- the refrain of Portlanders- 8,000 agencies, and not one nibble.

And whats flowers? Are you are a florist? If so, you should make quite a bit this weekend!

I was thinking about being one of those people sitting on the streetcorners selling flowers, but the guy didn't call me back. Oh well, maybe Mother's Day.
