Oct. 21st, 2003 10:34 amAn odd, emotional, interesting, good long weekend.
CJ & I did some talking and other things on Thursday, which started the weekend off nicely.
Friday we picked up the cakes at some ungodly hour, and made excellent time to Oak Harbor; I think it took me about 4.25 hours total. And that was with numerous potty stops ~ I have a tiny bladder and drank a lot of coffee, plus, traveling with a baby means stopping more often. The Zing handled the trip pretty well, although he was better on the way home. Apparently one of my nephews screamed from Olympia to Everett, which is a long way, so by comparison Zing was an angel!
Barb's family had bailed to explore the island, and Kevin was off with Dad, so CJ & I helped with the decorating that was being done on Friday; then dinner with the familia, then beeeeeeeeed!
Saturday, the wedding day....I cried, of course; partly because I often cry at weddings, partly because my mom wasn't there, partly because I won't ever get to have one of these that my family will attend/honor, blah blah blah pitycakes. THEN, there was a nice blowup with Shannon, and with CJ, where I (separately) yelled at both of them. They are far too much alike; both get really defensive and pissy when they are critisized in any way, and it's annoying as hell. So they end up not talking to each other, and then things get ugly, blah blah blah getoveritcakes. I intend to force them at gunpoint to talk before things get bad again.
A good thing was that CJ is finally willing to discuss her possible dx (which I figured would happen eventually); she says she's been looking it up online and things kind of fit: stress exacerbation, pain/numbness in the extremeties, lethargy, etc. And goddess knows we're under enough stress now. So I'm going to print off a bunch of articles about the blood test and send them to her Dr., who will be back in town November 3rd ~ he didn't know anything about it when I called before but it's a really new test. We also discussed how to reduce the stress level and although she is concerned about spending the money, I think that our original idea of a hotel once a month is a good one. I don't think we can afford NOT to do it.
On the job front, I made it the the second round of 911 testing, the written exam, which will be next Tuesday, and I should hear more about this SC job at Pacific Foods by the end of the month.
And just because I mentioned her ~ this icon is my Mary-mom when she was very small.
