Eric Ronald Thompson, 11/14/64 - 8/2/03
Aug. 7th, 2003 01:23 pmI saw this in today's obits in the Oregonian.
Eric was my first and only boyfriend, I was probably his first and only girlfriend.
We met in Alateen meetings, of all places, probably when we were in middle high, and used to sit up in front of senior high-school classes and talk about alcoholism.
He was a huge geek, before geekery was cool. We spent hours playing D&D. He had a huge Graywhatever map that he had drawn, and he spent hours writing and speaking in Tolkein Elven. I got a lucky roll once and killed of some demi-god character he had made for himself; he didn't talk to me for a month.
I knew he was living here, knew he had a partner, knew his mom had moved up also. I saw him once or twice a year, and we alway promised to have coffee or something, but life has a way of getting in the way and it didn't happen. I wish it had.
There's no memorial, so I'll have to find another way to get ahold of his mom.
